Kochi: Malayalam film Sarvam Maya, starring Nivin Pauly in the lead role, hit theatres on Thursday amid high expectations and has opened to a largely positive response from audiences.

The Akhil Sathyan directorial has been described as a light-hearted, feel-good entertainer, with early reactions suggesting it has struck a chord with moviegoers during the Christmas season.

Soon after the release, social media was flooded with reactions from fans and members of the film fraternity. Actor-director Basil Joseph was among those who praised the film.

In an Instagram story, Basil Joseph wrote, “Such a breath of fresh air watching a light-hearted, feel-good entertainer in theatres after ages. Walked out with a big smile. So damn happy seeing Nivin chettan doing what he does best, effortless, relaxed, and completely in his zone. And alongside him, dearest Aju ettan, flawless as always, perfect timing. Directed by Akhil Sathyan, son of legendary filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad, Sarvam Maya marks another addition to his growing filmography, which includes Paachuvum Albhuthavilakkum. The film’s music is composed by Justin Prabhakaran, while art direction is handled by veteran technician Rajeevan. Cinematography is by Sharan Velayudhan Nair, who previously worked on the critically acclaimed Sookshmadarshini.

Produced by Firefly Films, Sarvam Maya features Nivin Pauly, Riya Shibu, Aju Varghese and Janardhanan in key roles, along with Preity Mukhundhan. With positive word-of-mouth and strong festive footfalls, the film appears poised for a steady run at the box office.
