Originally set for January 15, logistical issues and industry scheduling pressures led to the postponement.

In a sudden reversal rattling Thalapathy Vijay fans, producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu announced Saturday that the planned re-release of the blockbuster "Theri" has been postponed indefinitely.
The decision was reached following a high-level coordination meeting between regional distributors and the producers of other major Pongal releases, who reportedly requested the delay to ensure a balanced theatrical window for new content. While the 2016 action-thriller was scheduled to return to 4K screens on January 15 to mark its tenth anniversary, the production house, V Creations, confirmed that logistical constraints and industry-wide scheduling pressures made the date unviable.
The Domino Effect of "Jana Nayagan"
The postponement of "Theri" adds another layer of disruption to a festival season already defined by the legal deadlock surrounding actor Vijay’s final film, "Jana Nayagan."
Producers KVN Productions moved the Supreme Court on Monday, January 12, seeking an urgent stay on a Madras High Court division bench order. That order had blocked the issuance of the film's "U/A" certificate just hours after a single judge had cleared it for release.
"Theri" was originally positioned as a strategic "filler" for theatres after "Jana Nayagan" missed its January 9 debut.
