Lijomol Jose, who garnered immense praise for her role in the 2021 Tamil film Jai Bhim, recently shared her experiences leading up to the film's success. Speaking to Wonderwall Media Network, Lijomol revealed that before the film, she had decided to take a break from acting, having not done any movies in both Tamil and Malayalam for nearly a year.
"I had decided to step away from films and was preparing for something else during that time. I was considering pursuing further studies or perhaps attempting a PhD, and if I could get a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), I would have gone ahead with it," Lijomol said. However, her life took a turn when she received a call for an audition for Jai Bhim.
The makers of Jai Bhim called her after watching her performance in the 2019 Tamil film Sivappu Manjal Pachai before being invited to audition for Jai Bhim. She had no idea that it would be a part of such an important project. "I wasn’t aware it was a film starring Suriya, or that it was produced by 2D Entertainment. They simply told me it was a small film being made for a social cause," she explained.
Lijomol admitted that she initially hesitated about attending the audition, but eventually decided to go ahead. "I didn't say anything about agreeing to come when they first called me. But after that, they contacted me again and sent over some scenes for me to go through," she recalled.
Following the release of Jai Bhim, Lijomol’s portrayal of an important character in the film received widespread acclaim, and the film itself became a major success, releasing on Amazon Prime. Despite her initial break from the industry, Lijomol’s role in Jai Bhim has firmly established her in Tamil cinema. (With inputs from Agencies)
