Vivek Agnihotri’s 'The Bengal Files' has collected ₹3.79 crore in two days, showing only a slight rise on Day 2 despite the storm of controversy surrounding its release

Vivek Agnihotri’s latest film The Bengal Files, starring Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi and Darshan Kumar, has been surrounded by controversy since its release on September 5. Marketed as an exposé on what it calls the “brutal Hindu genocide buried by mainstream narratives,” the film has sharply divided critics and audiences alike.
According to Sacnilk, the film collected ₹2.04 crore on Day 2, showing only a marginal rise from its opening day earnings of ₹1.75 crore. This brings its total two-day collection to ₹3.79 crore, with a recorded 26.46% Hindi occupancy on Saturday.
Despite powerful performances, especially from Pallavi Joshi and Darshan Kumar, 'The Bengal Files'has faced criticism for its length and indulgence. A review in Hindustan Times noted, “In the end, 'The Bengal Files'is less a film and more a statement. It has power in its performances and moments where the weight of history hits hard, but the length and indulgence make it an exhausting watch.”
The ensemble cast also features Simrat Kaur, Anupam Kher, Saswata Chatterjee, Puneet Issar, Sourav Das, Eklavya Sood, and Rajesh Khera. Directed and co-produced by Vivek Agnihotri along with Abhishek Agarwal and Pallavi Joshi, and backed by Zee Studios, the film is the third installment in Agnihotri’s Files Trilogy after The Kashmir Files and The Tashkent Files.
