The unique pairing of Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, plus Nawazuddin Siddiqui's vampire role, has been a hit

Mumbai: Ayushmann Khurrana’s horror-comedy ‘Thamma’ has taken the post-Diwali box office by storm, outperforming expectations with a stellar ₹42 crore domestic haul in just two days. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and produced under Maddock Films’ expanding Horror Comedy Universe, the film marks Khurrana’s biggest opening to date, propelling it into the list of top Hindi grosser launches of 2025.
‘Thamma’ dominates the Diwali weekend
Opening with ₹25.11 crore on Day 1, ‘Thamma’ enjoyed a high-occupancy festive debut, cruising on mass appeal, social media buzz, and chart-topping songs. Day 2 brought a moderate dip due to post-holiday workdays, yet the film managed an additional ₹17–19 crore, taking its India total to ₹42–44 crore and worldwide gross past ₹50 crore.
Ayushmann Khurrana described ‘Thamma’ as the "tentpole" film of his career. Sharing a heartfelt anecdote, he said that every year he would go to theatres with his family to watch a superstar’s film, but this time, he experienced that joy with his own movie. He expressed, “I’m an entertainer, so it brings me so much joy to see people loving and enjoying ‘Thamma’ and my performance during this big Diwali holiday.”
The Ayushmann-Rashmika pairing, coupled with Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s quirky vampire role, has resonated strongly across urban centres like Mumbai, Delhi NCR, and Ahmedabad. Trade analysts project that ‘Thamma’ could breach the ₹100 crore net benchmark by its extended Diwali weekend, securing its place among Bollywood’s biggest 2025 blockbusters.
‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ maintains momentum
While ‘Thamma’ dominates multiplex screens, Harshvardhan Rane’s romantic drama ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ continues to hold its ground and grow on strong word of mouth. The emotional romance has already collected around ₹18–20 crore worldwide in its first two days, marking a career-high for Rane and stable footfalls despite fierce competition.
