Following the roaring success of ‘Marco’, producer Shareef Muhammed is back with an even bigger dream project under the Cubes Entertainments banner, ‘Kattalan’. Directed by debutant Paul George, the film is already turning heads for its massive scale, big names, and a gritty theme that promises to push boundaries.

Sunil’s malayalam debut

One of the biggest talking points? Telugu-Tamil star Sunil making his debut in Malayalam cinema. Known for his powerful and often unpredictable performances in ‘Pushpa’, ‘Jailer’, ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo’, and ‘Maaveeran’, Sunil brings with him two decades of experience and over 200 films.

His entry into Malayalam with ‘Kattalan’ is being seen as a major crossover moment.

Kabir Duhan Singh returns

Also joining the cast is Kabir Duhan Singh, who audiences still remember as the menacing villain from ‘Marco’. Touted as "The Most Brutal Villain" by fans, Kabir is back, this time in a whole new avatar.

Known for his standout roles in Tamil hits like ‘Vedalam’ and ‘Kanchana 3’, Kabir brings serious screen presence and intensity to the project.

Globally renowned stunt choreographer Kecha Khamphakdee is reportedly onboard to design the film's action sequences. A video of the ‘Kattalan’ team meeting Kecha in person was recently shared online. Known for his work in ‘Ong-Bak 2,’ ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion,’ ‘Jawan,’ ‘Baaghi 2,’ and ‘Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1,’ Kecha's Malayalam debut with ‘Kattalan’ is set to be a major highlight.

Anthony Varghese leads the charge

Headlining the film is Anthony Varghese Pepe, appearing under his real name, a decision the team has been consciously highlighting in early promos.

The actor seems to be entering a new phase of his career with ‘Kattalan’, and the poster featuring a tense face-off between man and elephant only deepens the intrigue.

Music and crew

The music is composed by B Ajaneesh Loknath, riding high after ‘Kantara’ and now stepping into ‘Kattalan’ with equal energy. The rest of the crew is equally stacked, Shameer Muhammed on editing, Renadive on cinematography, and M. R. Rajakrishnan handling sound design.

It’s a Pan-Indian collaboration in every sense, with a blend of top Malayalam and national talent both on-screen and behind the scenes. With ‘Kattalan’, Cubes Entertainments isn’t just looking to replicate the success of ‘Marco’, they’re aiming to set a new benchmark for action thrillers in Malayalam.

From casting and technical finesse to production scale and storytelling ambition, the film appears to be checking all the right boxes.
