Actor Soubin Shahir and co-producers questioned by police in Manjummel Boys financial fraud case involving Rs 7 crore investment

Kochi: Actor and producer Soubin Shahir appeared for questioning in the financial fraud case related to the movie Manjummel Boys. Soubin appeared at the Maradu police station along with his lawyer. The film's co-producers Babu Shahir and Shawn Antony also appeared for questioning along with Soubin.
The police will ask questions about how the profits from the film were spent. Manjummel Boys earned a box office collection of Rs 200 crore. The film, which was released in 2024, was well-received both inside and outside Kerala.
The police registered a case based on a complaint filed by Siraj Valiyathura, who said that after promising 40 per cent of the film's profits and investing Rs 7 crore, the profits and money were not paid.
The police informed the court that there was clear evidence that the accused committed the crime. The High Court had earlier granted bail to the accused. The court had initially rejected their anticipatory bail, but the second time it granted bail with conditions. This was with the condition that they should appear for questioning when called by the investigating officers.
