Kochi: In a surprising turn of events, actress Vincy Aloshious has revealed that it was indeed actor Mammootty who was behind calling her "Win C" through a text message. 

The actress had previously stated that someone had tricked her by sending a message using Mammootty’s name, which prompted her to adopt the name "Win C."

However, during a recent interview given as part of the promotions for her film Soothravaakyam, Vincy shared a new version of the story, stating that she has now confirmed the message was genuinely from Mammootty himself.

Vincy explained that someone had shared Mammootty’s number with her to send pictures from the theatre celebration of the movie Kannur Squad. Not wanting to disturb him with a call, she sent a message instead and continued to occasionally update him on her career progress.

Later, while speaking at the Filmfare Awards, Vincy said, “I was excited to see Mammukka on stage and mentioned that he had once called me Win C. But when he responded that he wasn’t aware of it or hadn't sent such a message, I assumed it must have been someone else impersonating him and decided to stop messaging that number.”

Later, when asked in an interview why she associated Mammootty’s name with her name change, she stated it wasn’t really him, thinking it best not to drag the actor’s name into the matter. However, she was trolled for her response on social media.

Vincy later received another message from the same number that simply said, “Let it remain Win C.” Doubting the authenticity once again, she took a screenshot of the conversation and sent it to producer George, asking him to verify whose number it was. He confirmed that it belonged to Mammootty.

“I was stunned. I told George ettan, all these stories I created – where do I hide now?” Vincy said. She added that Mammootty might not have remembered it due to the disappearing messages feature. “Later, I turned that feature off, and when I told Mammukka that I changed my name because of his message, he just said, ‘Sorry, I forgot.’”

Vincy concluded by saying, “That’s the truth. If anyone wants proof, I have it on my phone.”
