Singer, lyricist and composer Sathyajith has levelled serious copyright infringement allegations against singer-composer Shaan Rahman over the much popular track ‘Freak Penne’ from the 2019 rom-com ‘Oru Adaar Love’, directed by Omar Lulu.
Taking to Facebook, Sathyajith, who has sung and wrote the song, alleged that Shaan Rahman released the song claiming to be its composer and did not give him due credits. He went on to share a video of him performing the song at a college event, years before the release of the movie, as proof for his claims.
“This is for those who still believe that music director Shan Rahman composed the entire music for this song, but that's not the case! The song was released in 2018 as part of the 'Adaar Love' movie. However, I am the composer, lyrics writer, and singer of this song. It was created four years before the movie, but the movie's music director forcefully claimed that he composed the song himself,” Sathyajith wrote.
“The entire movie team accused me of faking the rights to the song. I want to emphasise that in the world of movies, it's important not to blindly trust the claims of those in the industry. Always strive to assert your rights when you step into the world of filmmaking and music,” he added.
