Kochi: Renowned director-cum-screenwriter Siddique, who passed away on Tuesday, will be laid to rest on Wednesday in Ernakulam. Siddique's mortal remains have been brought to Kadavanthra Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium for public homage.  

Many members of the film fraternity including Lal, Fazil, Fahad Faasil, Jayaram, Tovino Thomas, Soubin Shahir, Major Ravi, Vineeth, Sibi Malayil among others paid respects to the director here. 

After 12 pm, the body will be taken to his residence in Pallikkara, Kakkanad. The funeral will be held around 6 pm at Central Juma Masjid in Ernakulam.  

Meanwhile, tributes are pouring in for Siddique, who is popular for co-directing the Malayalam movie ‘Godfather’. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan extended his condolences to Siddique’s family and friends.

Actors Mammootty, Mohanlal, Dulquer Salmaan, Harisree Ashokan, Bhavana, Sai Kumar, among others, expressed their grief over Siddique’s death.

Siddique delivered several hit movies along with his friend Lal -- who is also an actor who played leading roles in various hit films himself such as 'Thenkasipattanam', 'Thommanum Makkalum', and 'Salt and Pepper' among others -- and the filmmaker duo was popularly known as 'Siddique-Lal'.

'Siddique-Lal' movies such as 'Ramji Rao Speaking', 'In Harihar Nagar', 'Vietnam Colony' and 'Kabooliwala' were massive hits. Siddique is also the director of blockbuster movies including 'Hitler', 'Friends', 'Chronic Bachelor', and 'Bodyguard', among others.

He directed the remake of his movie 'Bodyguard' starring Salman Kha in Hindi, which also became a super hit. In Tamil, it was titled 'Kavalan' starring Vijay, and did well at the box office.
