Shane Nigam’s Dridam, directed by Martin Joseph, confirms worldwide release on 8 May

The release date of ‘Dridam’, featuring Shane Nigam once again in a police role, has been officially announced. The makers revealed the date through a distinctive promotional video. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 8 May.
Directed by debutant Martin Joseph, the film follows the events that unfold after Vijay Radhakrishnan, a newly appointed Sub-Inspector, takes charge at a rural police station in Kuzhinilam. He enters the role he has long aspired to with confidence, but soon finds himself facing unexpected situations within the station. The narrative develops as he navigates the challenges that come his way.
Shane Nigam as a grounded police officer
Following films such as ‘Corona Papers’ and Vela, Shane Nigam returns in another unconventional police role as SI Vijay Radhakrishnan. Instead of portraying a larger-than-life action hero, he appears as an ordinary officer trying to manage situations on his own while making sense of the complexities around him.
Early indications suggest that the film explores the journey of a newcomer in the force who makes mistakes, learns from them, and gradually evolves under responsibility and psychological pressure.
A realistic narrative approach
The story is presented in a completely realistic manner, focusing on the life journey of an individual with simplicity and sincerity. The trailer has hinted at several relatable moments that may resonate with audiences.
It depicts a man who is sometimes faced with unanswered questions, vulnerable in moments of uncertainty, yet determined to move forward through every challenge. Dridam appears to portray the life journey of a man who has everything to prove.
The first promotional video, released with the hashtag #ACopWithEverythingToProve, generated strong attention on social media. The subsequent poster also received positive responses, and the trailer has now gained widespread visibility.
