Acclaimed Indian filmmaker Selvaraghavan has praised the Malayalam blockbuster Thudarum, starring Mohanlal in the lead role.
Taking to X, the director of Kadhal Kondein wrote, “Brilliant Brilliant movie Thudarum is! Only Mohanlal sir can pull off this film! What an actor! Mesmerised by the best actor in India!”
Thudarum, directed by Tharun Moorthy, who co-wrote the screenplay with K. R. Sunil, was a box-office success following its release on April 25, 2025. The film broke several records and ranks among the highest-grossing Malayalam films of all time. It also performed well in other languages, particularly Tamil.

Produced by M. Renjith under Rejaputhra Visual Media, the film also stars Shobana, Prakash Varma, Farhaan Faasil, Maniyanpilla Raju, and others in supporting roles.
Since its theatrical release, Thudarum has received widespread critical acclaim and emerged as a blockbuster, currently ranking as the third highest-grossing Malayalam film and the fourth highest-grossing Indian film of the year. The film’s digital streaming rights were acquired by JioHotstar and was released on the OTT platform on May 30, 2025.
The film’s success follows another massive hit, Empuraan, making 2025 a spectacular comeback year for Mohanlal after a string of underwhelming releases. Both Empuraan and Thudarum, released within a month of each other, have collectively grossed over ₹500 crore.
