Bollywood actor Salman Khan and his sister Alvira Agnihotri have been summoned by a Chandigarh court in connection with a fraud case linked to the Being Human Jewellery brand.

The summons were issued following a complaint filed by Chandigarh-based businessman Arun Gupta, who alleged that he suffered heavy financial losses after opening a Being Human jewellery showroom based on promises that were never fulfilled.

According to the complaint, Gupta invested nearly ₹3 crore to set up an exclusive Being Human jewellery showroom in Manimajra, Chandigarh. He claimed that around ₹1 crore alone was spent on developing the outlet after signing an agreement with Style Quotient Jewellery Pvt. Ltd., the company licensed to manufacture and market Being Human jewellery.

Gupta alleged that he was persuaded to make the investment after receiving assurances from representatives associated with the company. He claimed he fulfilled all the contractual requirements on his part but later suffered significant losses when the promised support and business commitments did not materialise.

The court has directed Salman Khan, Alvira Agnihotri and the other parties named in the complaint to file their responses to the allegations. They have also been asked to appear before the court on October 5, 2026, when the matter will be taken up for further hearing.

The dispute dates back several years. In 2021, businessman Arun Gupta had alleged that he was promised promotional support for the jewellery business, including Salman Khan's involvement in promoting the showroom. He had also claimed that supplies to the store eventually stopped, resulting in major financial losses.

At the time, Style Quotient Jewellery Pvt. Ltd., the global licensee for the Being Human jewellery business, denied that Salman Khan or Alvira Agnihotri were directly connected to the commercial agreement. The company maintained that the dispute was between the licensee and the franchisee and stated that neither Salman, Alvira nor the Being Human Foundation were parties to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the complainant.

The case will now proceed before the Chandigarh court, where all parties are expected to present their responses during the next hearing in October.
