Mumbai: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was injured after a robber broke into his and wife Kareena Kapoor’s residence in Bandra (West) around 2:30 am on Thursday. The actor, who was sleeping at the time along with his family members, was reportedly stabbed during the intrusion. The attacker fled the scene after the family members woke up.

The Bandra police have initiated the process of registering an FIR, with multiple teams being formed to apprehend the suspect. A senior IPS officer confirmed the incident and stated, “Saif Ali Khan has been admitted to the Lilavati hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. It is not clear yet if he is stabbed or injured in the scuffle with the robber. We have been investigating the matter. The Mumbai crime branch is also conducting a parallel investigation into the incident.”

Injury details and treatment

Dr Niraj Uttamani, COO of Lilavati Hospital, provided further details on the injuries sustained by the actor. “Saif was attacked by an unidentified person in his house. He was brought in at 3:30 am at Lilavati. He has six injuries, two of which are deeper. One of the injuries is closer to his spine. We are operating on him. He is being operated upon by Neurosurgeon Nitin Dange, cosmetic surgeon Leena Jain, and anaesthetist Nisha Gandhi. We will tell the extent of the damage only after the surgery is done.”

Dr Uttamani also noted an additional injury to Saif’s neck, which is currently under evaluation. The surgery began at 5:30 am and is still ongoing.

Saif’s family members are with him at the hospital as he continues his treatment.
