
Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor turned 42 on Saturday, and the celebrations just got more thrilling! As fans pour in birthday wishes, a latest development has sent excitement soaring - Ranbir is reportedly set to star as the lead in the highly anticipated 'Dhoom 4'.
According to latest reports, the talented actor has been roped in for the coveted role in the next instalment of Yash Raj Films' iconic action franchise. This news is the perfect birthday gift for Ranbir's fans, who have been eagerly awaiting his next big project.
As per a Pinkvilla report, Ranbir has been roped in to play the lead in fourth instalment of the ‘Dhoom’ franchise. Quoting a source close to the development, the report said, “The discussions with Ranbir have been going on for the longest time. He had always shown interest to be a part of Dhoom 4 on hearing the basic idea, and is now finally confirmed to lead the franchise.” It further claimed that Aditya Chopra, who has backed the franchise under his banner Yash Raj Films, feels that Ranbir is an “ideal choice to carry forward the ‘Dhoom’ legacy.”
The report further claimed that the film is already in works, and is presently under the pre-production stage. It is also being said that the script is being developed under the supervision of Aditya, who is planning to release the film as a reboot with changes that are met with the needs of the current time. While Ranbir will play the lead, two more young actors are expected to join the franchise, claimed the report, adding that it is touted to be the biggest ‘Dhoom’ film.
All about the ‘Dhoom’ franchise:
First released in 2004, ‘Dhoom’ featured John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan, and Uday Chopra in the leading roles. While Abhishek played a cop’s role and Uday as his sidekick, John was seen as the antagonist. It was later developed as a franchise when its standalone sequel, ‘Dhoom 2’ was released in 2006 with Hrithik Roshan leading the film. In 2013, its third instalment was released with Aamir Khan as the anti-hero, and in a dual role.
