Chennai: Renowned filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has praised Malayalam director Chidambaram’s upcoming film Balan, calling it “beyond fantastic.” Chidambaram is best known for his blockbuster Malayalam hit Manjummel Boys.

Sharing a picture of himself with Chidambaram on X, Varma wrote, "Me with #chidambaram the BLOCKBUSTER director of #ManjummelBoys ..Just saw a small cut of his latest film #Balan and it’s BEYOND FANTASTIC. Just AMAZING."

Balan went on the floors with a traditional pooja in Thiruvananthapuram on August 17 last year.

The film is produced by KVN Productions, led by Venkat K Narayana, in collaboration with Thespian Films, headed by Shailaja Desai Fenn. The project has created significant buzz as it brings together two stalwarts of Malayalam cinema, Chidambaram and writer Jithu Madhavan, known for Aavesham.

The film, whose title translates to “Boy,” is penned by Jithu Madhavan and features a highly skilled technical team. Shyju Khaled serves as cinematographer, Sushin Syam is the music director, and Vivek Harshan is on board as editor.

Costumes are being designed by Sapna Kajha Rawther, makeup is handled by Ronex Xavier, and audiography is by Shijin Melvin Hutton. Abhishek Nair and Ganapathi are both casting directors and executive producers for the film.
