Mithun Chakraborty had one non-negotiable condition before agreeing to star alongside Rajinikanth in ‘Jailer 2’. The veteran actor reportedly made it clear that the superstar’s character could neither beat him up nor shoot him in the upcoming action thriller.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, ‘Jailer 2’ marks Mithun’s return to Tamil cinema after more than a decade. While the makers have kept details about his character under wraps, Rajinikanth recently shared an interesting anecdote about how the veteran actor came on board the highly anticipated sequel.

Speaking at the ‘Jailer 2 Super Show’, Rajinikanth recalled Mithun’s initial reaction when the production team approached him for the film.

“He is a very good friend of mine. When the production team approached him, he asked what role he would be playing. ‘Am I the villain? Should I take beatings from Rajinikanth? Get lost,’ he said,” the superstar recalled.

Mithun Chakraborty’s condition for ‘Jailer 2’

Rajinikanth went on to explain how he later met Mithun at an edition of the WAVES Summit, where they discussed the film again. The conversation eventually led to Mithun expressing his willingness to be part of the project, but with one specific request.

“Later, during an edition of the WAVES Summit, I met him. When the conversation reached this topic, he told me, ‘If you say, I will do it.’ But he had one condition: ‘You should neither beat me up nor shoot me.’ I said, ‘Let me ask the director and get back.’ But I was sure he was just saying it [for the sake of it],” Rajinikanth said.

Mithun made his Tamil film debut with ‘Yagavarayinum Naa Kaakka’ in 2015 and has not appeared in another Tamil film since. His decision to join ‘Jailer 2’ also brings his long-standing friendship with Rajinikanth into focus.
