Who Was Rob Reiner?
Born on March 6, 1947, in the Bronx, New York, Rob Reiner was the son of legendary comedian Carl Reiner and actress Estelle Lebost. He pursued his passion for filmmaking at UCLA Film School, eventually carving a distinguished career in both acting and directing.
Reiner rose to national prominence playing Mike “Meathead” Stivic on the groundbreaking CBS sitcom All in the Family (1971–1979), a role that earned him two Primetime Emmy Awards. He also appeared in films such as Throw Momma from the Train, Sleepless in Seattle, Bullets Over Broadway, The First Wives Club, Primary Colors, EDtv, Everyone’s Hero and The Wolf of Wall Street.
As a director, Reiner became synonymous with classic films that have endured across generations. His notable works include This Is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally…, Misery, and A Few Good Men. Throughout his career, he received four Golden Globe nominations for Best Director and three nominations from the Directors Guild of America.
