Prasad Corporation has completed the 4K restoration of 16 Ritwik Ghatak films, marking a major milestone in preserving Indian cinema

Prasad Corporation has completed the 4K restoration of 16 films by legendary filmmaker Ritwik Ghatak, in collaboration with NFDC and NFAI. The restored collection includes eight feature films and eight short films, which are being showcased during Ghatak’s birth centenary year at BFI Southbank in London and at Il Cinema Ritrovato in Bologna.
The restoration involved frame-by-frame digital work to repair extensive film damage and preserve the original artistic quality. The project aims to make Ghatak’s classic films accessible to global audiences while reinforcing his influence on world cinema and highlighting India’s growing role in film preservation.
