Criticism has already emerged, with many accusing the film of spreading narratives and propaganda that misrepresents Kerala, one of India’s most progressive and peaceful states.

The teaser for the sequel to the controversial 2023 film The Kerala Story has been released. Titled The Kerala Story 2 Goes Beyond, the 2-minute, 6-second teaser announces a theatrical release on 27 February 2026.
The teaser claims to be ‘inspired by real events’ and carries the caption: ‘Our daughters don’t fall in love; they fall into traps. Ab sahenge nahin… ladenge.’ However, criticism has already emerged, with many accusing the film of spreading false narratives and engaging in politically motivated propaganda that misrepresents Kerala, one of India’s most progressive and peaceful states. Concerns have also been raised about Islamophobia and hate-mongering, with the Censor Board ‘apparently’ raising no objections.
The film is produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh, and co-produced by Aashin A. Shah and Ravichand Nallappa. It stars newcomers in the lead roles.
The first part of The Kerala Story, directed by Sudipto Sen, stirred controversy and legal challenges, drawing criticism for allegedly portraying Kerala in a negative light.
