Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor’s ‘Param Sundari’ crossed the ₹30 crore mark in four days but faced a brutal Monday drop of 65%. Despite a strong weekend, the film now faces the real test of sustaining beyond its opening buzz

Mumbai: Param Sundari Box Office Day 4: After a glowing weekend run, Param Sundari hit a hard roadblock on Monday, suffering a massive 65.85% drop in collections. The Sidharth Malhotra–Janhvi Kapoor starrer managed to earn only ₹3.5 crore on its first Monday, pulling its total to ₹30.25 crore in four days.
While the fall looks steep, trade experts say such a dip is “normal” after an opening weekend surge. Still, the film faces mounting pressure, given its ₹50 crore budget. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh said the early numbers underline a pattern:
“A youthful love story backed by a strong soundtrack is always an advantage—it serves as an initial hook to draw audiences to cinemas. But in the end, everything boils down to content.”
Weekend Performance
The film, which has been compared to Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Chennai Express’ due to its North-meets-South theme, earned ₹26.75 crore over its opening weekend. However, heavy rains in Mumbai reportedly dented collections.
Day 4 Occupancy (Monday – Hindi)
- Morning Shows: 8.57%
- Afternoon Shows: 11.97%
- Evening Shows: 10.73%
- Night Shows: 11.42%
- Overall Occupancy: 10.67%
About the Film
Directed by Tushar Jalota (Dasvi), Param Sundari tells the story of Param (Sidharth Malhotra), a rich Delhi youth who experiments with an AI matchmaking app. To his surprise, he’s paired with Sundari (Janhvi Kapoor), a rooted South Indian woman from Kerala who runs her ancestral homestay with her uncle, a Kalari Payattu practitioner.
What begins as a quirky tech experiment turns into a culture-clash love story, mixing humour, emotion, and tradition. The film also features Sanjay Kapoor, Inayat Verma, and Manjot Singh in supporting roles.
