Actress Helen Nelson, popularly known as Oviya, has filed a complaint with the Chennai Police Commissioner following the circulation of a viral video that allegedly features her.
The obscene video, which gained traction on social media, shows a woman with a tattoo similar to Oviya. According to her manager, the video is morphed and intended to damage the actress's reputation. He assured that Oviya is taking legal action against those responsible, but refrained from revealing specific details due to the sensitive nature of the case.
Amid the controversy, Oviya took to Instagram to address the online harassment she has faced. In response to trolls, she sarcastically replied with remarks such as “Next time bro” and “Enjoy,” showing her resilience in the face of the issue.
According to the Tamil Hindustan Times, Oviya’s complaint also mentioned a man named Tariq, with whom she was previously in a relationship. In the complaint, Oviya ended the relationship due to his objectionable actions. Angered by the breakup, Tariq allegedly released the morphed video in an attempt to defame her. The complaint further states that Tariq is in possession of other manipulated photos and videos of women.
The incident has caused a nationwide stir, particularly given Oviya’s popularity in the Tamil and Malayalam film industries. Since her debut in the 2007 Malayalam movie ‘Kangaroo’, Oviya has become a well-known figure in South Indian cinema, particularly for her role in the critically acclaimed film ‘Kalavani’. She gained further fame after her participation in ‘Bigg Boss Tamil Season 1’.
