“Those movies are on an altogether different scale; you can’t compare them,” the actor commented on ‘Lokah’.

Notching up Rs 275 crores at the box office, Lokah Chapter One: Chandra continues its stellar run amid new releases. The film, setting a new benchmark for Malayalam cinema, has been appreciated for the captivating performances of its actors, especially the lead actor Kalyani Priyadarshan.
Lokah, directed by Dominic Arun and backed by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films, features an ensemble cast including Naslen, Arun Kurian, Chandu Salim Kumar, along with stunning cameos from Tovino Thomas and Dulquer Salmaan. This superhero film, incorporating Kerala myth and folklore, has been skillfully written by Dominic Arun himself and Santhy Balachandran.
Ever since its release, Lokah has steadily soared to international fame, with notable personalities like Priyanka Chopra taking notice of the film. Other notable praises have come from Alia Bhatt and Parvathy, all of whom hailed the film’s female-led narrative.
However, amid all the praise, yesteryear actor and leading lady Shanthi Krishna offered a slightly different opinion about the movie. While she did not bash the film, she frankly stated that it wasn’t anything extraordinary.
Speaking to Red FM, Shanthi said, “Lokah didn’t appear to be that great a film to me. I didn’t feel it was as good as people are saying. It was an okay movie overall. It can’t be compared with Marvel movies either.”
Talking further about the movie, Shanthi Krishna noted that youngsters might perceive the film differently. Giving a mixed verdict, the yesteryear heroine said, “Like everybody is saying, it wasn’t a wow experience for me. Since I am used to watching such genres, I was hoping for a lot.” She also dismissed comparisons between Lokah and Marvel, stating that it is on an altogether different scale, but she added that maybe her expectations from Lokah were higher.
However, the acclaimed actor made it a point to praise the young Kalyani Priyadarshan for her deft portrayal of the character and also lauded the writing.
Meanwhile, Shanthi’s latest movie Vala, directed by Muhashin and written by Harshad, also starring Lukman Avaran, Vijayaraghavan, Dhyan Sreenivasan, and Raveena Ravi, is currently running in theatres. Interestingly, this movie has also been backed by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films. (With inputs from Agencies)
