Actor Nivin Pauly has filed a police complaint against producer PA Shamnas, accusing him of forging his signature to unlawfully obtain rights to the film ‘Action Hero Biju 2’.

Actor-producer Nivin Pauly has lodged a police complaint against Malayalam film producer PA Shamnas, accusing him of forging his signature to unlawfully secure rights to the title of the upcoming sequel ‘Action Hero Biju 2’.
According to police sources, a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Shamnas under Sections 465 (forgery) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) of the Indian Penal Code. The case has been registered by the Palarivattom police based on Nivin’s formal complaint.
The dispute traces back to a 2023 agreement between Nivin, director Abrid Shine, and Shamnas for the production of ‘Action Hero Biju 2’. As per the contract, all rights related to the film were transferred to Nivin's own production banner, Pauly Junior Pictures.
In his complaint, Nivin alleges that Shamnas, while disregarding the terms of the agreement, submitted a forged document to the Kerala Film Chamber to falsely obtain title rights to the film. The document allegedly bore a counterfeit version of Nivin's signature.
Police investigations revealed inconsistencies that corroborated Nivin’s claims, prompting the registration of a case against Shamnas.
This is not the first legal spat between the two parties. Earlier, Shamnas had filed a complaint against Nivin, alleging that Pauly Junior Pictures had illegally handed over the overseas distribution rights of the sequel to another company without informing him. He claimed ownership of the film rights and insisted he was excluded from key decisions.
Shamnas further alleged that after the commercial failure of ‘Mahaveeryar’ (2022), Nivin offered him ₹95 lakh as compensation and later promised to make him a production partner in ‘Action Hero Biju 2’. He claims to have invested around ₹1.9 crore into the project based on this promise.
In response, Nivin’s counter-complaint accuses Shamnas of trying to coerce and publicly malign him while their contractual disagreements were still unresolved.
The original ‘Action Hero Biju’ (2016), directed by Abrid Shine and starring Nivin, was a box-office hit and remains one of the actor’s celebrated performances.
