Actor and producer Nayanthara has expressed heartfelt thanks after receiving three honours from the Tamil Nadu government’s State Film Awards, including Best Actress for her 2017 performance in the film Aramm.

She took to Instagram to share photos of herself holding the awards and wrote, "My sincere gratitude to the Government of Tamil Nadu for honouring me with the State Award for Aramm. Also deeply thankful for the State Awards for Netrikann and Koozhangal for our production house @therowdypictures. Three State Awards for the house… Truly blessed."

Two awards for production, one for performance

While her Best Actress award recognises her lead role in ‘Aramm’, Nayanthara also secured two additional State Awards as a producer for the films ‘Netrikann’ and ‘Koozhangal’, both produced under her banner, The Rowdy Pictures.

Directed by Gopi Nainar, ‘Aramm’ follows a district collector’s efforts to rescue a young girl who accidentally falls into a borewell – a story that resonated widely for its depiction of systemic delays, corruption and the struggles faced by rural communities. Nayanthara portrayed the role of Collector Mathivathani, a character central to the film’s tension and humanity.

A busy slate ahead for the actor-producer

Nayanthara continues to juggle multiple film commitments. Among her most anticipated upcoming projects is ‘Patriot’, directed by Mahesh Narayanan. The film brings together Malayalam cinema icons Mammootty and Mohanlal, marking their return to a joint screen appearance after 18 years. The cast also features Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban and Revathy alongside Nayanthara.

‘Patriot’ is set for a global theatrical release on 23 April 2026.
