According to the complaint filed by the actor-turned-politician, the threats pertain to an ongoing property dispute

Chennai: Actor and political figure Gautami has lodged a complaint with the Chennai Police Commissioner, alleging that her life is under threat and requesting police protection.
According to the complaint, the threats are related to an ongoing property dispute. Gautami had earlier accused a man named Azhagappan of unlawfully taking possession of her property in Neelankarai, valued at ₹9 crore. Following a court order, the said property has now been sealed.
In her complaint, Gautami further alleged that some officials have demanded bribes to act against unauthorised constructions in the area, and certain lawyers have been intimidating her. She also claimed to have received information that a group is planning a protest, which she suspects is part of a larger plot to harm her.
Formerly affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Gautami had quit the party last year, accusing its leadership of trying to shield the individual who allegedly defrauded her of her property. She subsequently joined the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).
Gautami was once a prominent actor across Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Malayalam cinema. She had earlier actively campaigned for the BJP in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka.
