Kozhikode: The family of renowned music composer MS Baburaj is planning to take legal action against those using his songs in movies without prior permission.

Reportedly, Baburaj’s daughter has sent a legal notice to filmmaker Aashiq Abu and composer Bijibal against them using the late composer’s songs in ‘Neelavelicham’. A complaint has also been lodged with Cultural Minister Saji Cheriyan in this regard.

According to the complaint, the new remix versions of Baburaj’s songs in the movie have been made in such a way that destroys the uniqueness and essence of the original versions.

‘Neelavelicham’, starring Tovino Thomas, Rima Kallingal and Roshan Mathew in lead roles, is an adaptation of legendary writer Vaikkom Muhammed Basheer’s short story of the same title.
