
Kochi: The mortal remains of veteran Malayalam film and stage actor KPAC Lalitha were laid to rest at the premises of her house at Wadakkanchery on Wednesday evening by 6 pm. Her mortal remains were kept at Layam auditorium in Thrippunithura from 8 am to 11.30 am for public homage.
The funeral ceremony was held with the guard of honour by Kerala police.
Lalitha passed away late on Tuesday at her residence. She was 74 and was bedridden for the past few months. She was under treatment for liver diseases and had been hospitalised. But after discharge from the hospital, she was resting at her son Sidharth’s residence.
Lalitha is survived by her actor-director son Sidharth Bharathan and daughter Sreekutty. She was married to the legendary Malayalam film director, late Bharathan.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, other ministers, state politicians and cine artists expressed condolence over her demise.
Actors and musicians, including Mammootty, Prithviraj, Mallika Sukumaran, MG Sreekumar, Navya Nair, Tini Tom, Idavela Babu and Manju Pillai, paid homage at the auditorium.
