Abu Dhabi: In a major setback, Malayalam movie ‘Monster’, starring Mohanlal, has reportedly been banned in all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries except United Arab Emirates (UAE). The movie has not yet received censorship certification in the UAE. A decision on the censorship is expected on Tuesday.

According to reports, the movie, which was set to hit theatres worldwide on October 21, has been banned over the alleged use of LGBTQ content. Reports also said that the filmmakers have decided to submit the movie for a re-censor after making necessary changes.

In the current scenario, the movie cannot be released in Gulf countries on October 21. ‘Monster’, was widely anticipated by fans as it marks the first Mohanlal-Vysakh combo since ‘Pulimurugan’, the first Malayalam movie to enter Rs 100 crore club. The film has received U/A certification in India.
