Kozhikode: A case filed against actor Mohanlal and producer Antony Perumbavoor alleging cheating in connection with film production has been dismissed by the court.
Kozhikode Fifth Additional Sessions Judge Janniz Stephen dismissed the criminal revision petition lodged by director and advocate K.A. Devarajan. The complainant had died on 15 April 2025 while the case was still pending in court.
The court upheld the lower court’s verdict, acquitting both accused and stating that the allegations on which the case was based were unfounded.
The complaint alleged that the defendants had accepted a cheque for Rs 30 lakh on 29 March 2007 for Devarajan’s film, but later failed to cooperate, thereby cheating him. The case relates to the film Swapnamalika.
