Recently, there have been a lot of rifts between the actor and his younger son Manchu Manoj. The clash within the family went public when the actor gave a police complaint against his son Manoj and wife Mounika on December 9. The complaint spoke of the actor’s concerns for his own safety and his son acquiring their Hyderabad home with force. 

This led to a complaint from Manoj’s side. In his complaint, Manoj mentions ten strangers forcefully entering his house for assault leaving him injured in the struggle.The video of Manoj leaving hospital post the incident with a plaster on his neck had become a talking topic on social media.

Mohan Babu has a total of three sons from two wives.

The 72-year old actor’s first wife was Vidya Devi. They have two children– Lakshmi and Vishnu. After the demise of Vidya Devi, Mohan Babu remarried her sister Nirmala Devi Manchu. Their child is Manchu Manoj. The daughter Lakshmi, pursuing her career in acting, lives in Mumbai with her husband and son. Vishnu lives in Dubai with his wife and four children. The younger son Manoj and his wife live with Mohan Babu in their Jalpally house. 

How did it all start?

The spat between Vishnu and Manoj led to the beginning of the family dispute. The reason for the dispute stemmed from the partition of the family wealth and business responsibilities. Vishnu was appointed as Pro-Chancellor at Mohan Babu University and as Chairman of New York Academy Spring Board Education Trust. Meanwhile, no responsibility was allotted to Manoj. This is speculated to be the reason for the feud. 

Further, in 2019, Manoj started a production house titled M M Arts. With the support of his mother Nirmala Devi, he produced a film called Aham Brahmasmi casting himself as the hero. However, this project was shelved and the production house also failed. Reports suggest these failures triggered Mohan Babu. The latter also had a disagreement with his son regarding his marriage with Mounika. It was the second marriage for both Manoj and Mounika.

Social media post that sparked debate

In March 2023, Manoj had shared a Facebook video post against his step brother Vishnu. The accusation was that Vishnu had entered Manoj’s house by force and assaulted his two helpers. Manoj also asserted that Vishnu had committed crimes like this before. Even though the said video was removed later, it paved the way to a lot of debate on social media. Manoj also accused Vishnu of committing corruption at Mohan Babu University with his associate Vinay Maheshwari. He even challenged them saying he has documents proving there have been illegal transactions at the University and he would present them to authorities. Vishnu, who was in Dubai during these events, denied all these allegations. 

45-year-old Vishnu, his wife Viranica Reddy and their four children used to live in Hyderabad with Vishnu’s parents. They shifted to Dubai last year. With the situation going out of hands, Vishnu has reached Hyderabad.

Manoj married Mounika Reddy in March 2023. They shifted with family to the house in Hyderabad before their daughter Devasena was born. Manoj had earlier made it clear that his decision to move into Hyderabad had a lot to do with Vishnu’s relocation to Dubai. He shifted home so that his parents won’t be alone. His wife was pregnant at the time.

Mohan Babu’s daughter Lakshmi’s story

Lakshmi has acted in films including Monster with Mohanlal. In her marriage with Andy Sreenivasan, the couple has a child. With her dreams to pursue deeply into acting, the family had recently shifted to Mumbai. 

She had opened up in an interview about this in the recent past. Lakshmi revealed that her father Mohan Babu was not keen on her acting career and wanted her to remain in Hyderabad instead. But her close friends Rakul Preet Singh and Rana Daggubati had advised her to move to Mumbai. 

Mohan Babu, an actor as well as a renowned producer, has remade several prominent films like Mohanlal’s Devasuram and Narasimham in Telugu. He is also producing a big budget Telugu language big-budget fantasy comedy film Kannappa. It has a star cast, including Mohan Lal, Akshay Kumar, Prabhas and Nayanthara. With assets such as Mohan Babu University and Sree Vidyaniketan Educational Trust, Mohan Babu holds a fortune of Rs 500 crore. He is also the owner of production company Sree Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures and is the co-owner of 24 Frames Factory and Manchu Entertainment.
