Palakkad: Popular dancer Methil Devika has confirmed her separation from her husband actor-MLA Mukesh. Addressing the media here on Tuesday, Devika announced that she has filed a divorce petition. She asserted that she has no plans to trigger any controversies over the matter.

“I have filed the divorce petition. Mukesh didn’t reveal his stance on the matter. The reason behind the divorce is personal. I am going through a tough situation after taking this decision. So I request all to allow me to overcome this peacefully,” Devika said.

She added that she was forced to give an explanation over the divorce considering Mukesh’s political life.

“I’m not interested to defame him. There is no need to connect his personal issues with his life as a politician and actor. I don’t need to part away from him angrily,” added Devika.

At the same time, she revealed that she was waiting for the election to come to an end for filing the divorce petition. She also refused to respond to the allegations over domestic violence charges against Mukesh.

“I didn’t raise domestic violence allegations against Mukesh in my divorce petition. I’m not interested to react to political allegations,” she cleared her stance.

On the other day, most of the media reported that Methil Devika has filed a divorce petition for officially ending her 8-year-long marriage with Mukesh. As fake reports were circulated on social media, Devika addressed the media for giving an official explanation. Mukesh and Methil Devika tied the knot in 2013.
