Dubbing artist Bhagyalakshmi has criticised Kerala’s ongoing power restrictions, expressing her frustration and sarcasm in social media posts.

Bhagyalakshmi shared several reels showing people speaking about the difficulties they are facing because of the power cuts. Along with the videos, she also took a swipe at the ministers responsible for handling the situation.

“Ministers have generators and inverters, so they don't need to know anything,” Bhagyalakshmi wrote in one of her posts. She also shared a poster carrying the message, “Kerala in darkness.”

She further shared a reel featuring a statement made by Chief Minister V D Satheesan when he was the Leader of the Opposition, in which he had spoken against an increase in electricity tariffs.

Bhagyalakshmi also reposted reels featuring children, homemakers and young people expressing their frustration over the ongoing power restrictions.

Kerala power restrictions to continue through September

The criticism comes as Kerala's electricity crisis continues, with restrictions being imposed for the 10th consecutive day. The restrictions are being implemented between 6.30 pm and 1 am. Electricity Minister Sunny Joseph has said the restrictions will continue as the state struggles with high consumption and limited power availability.

The minister has also announced a new ‘Power Cut Alert’ system that will inform consumers in advance about scheduled power interruptions. The system is expected to become operational on September 10. The move comes after complaints that some areas were facing multiple outages without sufficient advance information.

The government has indicated that the restrictions could continue for several more weeks if the gap between electricity demand and available supply remains.

Chief Minister V D Satheesan has said the government hopes to resolve the crisis and lift the restrictions after September 15. However, officials have indicated that the situation could take longer to ease if consumption remains high and additional power is not secured.
