The blockbuster Malayalam film ‘Marco’, starring Unni Mukundan, continues to make waves even after a historic run at the box office. Now, giving fans an exciting behind-the-scenes look, the makers have dropped the VFX breakdown video — and it’s already setting social media on fire.
Produced by Shareef Muhammed, under the Cubes Entertainments banner and scripted and directed by Haneef Adeni, ‘Marco’ has already etched its name in history, completing over 100 glorious days in theatres.
The two-minute and 54-second video showcases the making of the film’s most intense and violent scenes, giving viewers a glimpse into the scale and effort that went into creating the gritty, larger-than-life world of ‘Marco’. Unsurprisingly, the VFX video has gone viral, with fans praising the top-notch technical work.
‘Marco’ had earlier stormed its way into the Rs 100 crore club, setting a massive benchmark not just in Malayalam cinema, but across languages. After a roaring success in theatres, the film dropped on OTT platform SonyLIV on February 14, continuing its dominance by trending globally soon after its digital release.
Originally hitting theatres in Kerala on December 20, ‘Marco’ made headlines as the most violent Malayalam film ever, earning an ‘A’ certificate from the censor board — a classification usually reserved for Bollywood biggies like ‘Animal’ and ‘Kill’. But the adult certification didn't hold back audiences. The film's raw, intense storytelling and action sequences were embraced wholeheartedly.
Released in five languages — Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada — ‘Marco’ was welcomed with open arms everywhere it landed. It marked Cubes Entertainments' first production. With top-notch production values and grand storytelling, the film has become a milestone in Unni Mukundan’s career. And the journey doesn't stop here — ‘Marco’ is now all set for a release in Korea this April.
In the film, Unni Mukundan delivers a powerhouse performance as a rugged gangster, with a gritty makeover that fans loved. Alongside him, actors like Jagadish, Siddique, Anson Paul, Kabir Duhan Singh (of Turbo fame), Abhimanyu Thilakan, Yukti Thareja, and several Bollywood stars and newcomers added depth to the film’s intense world. Directed by acclaimed action choreographer Kalai Kingston, Marco packed in some of the most brutal and stylised action sequences ever seen in Malayalam cinema.
Adding to the film’s cinematic brilliance were Chandru Selvaraj’s powerful cinematography, Shameer Mohammed’s crisp editing. Digital promotions were handled by Obscura Entertainment.
