After watching Akhil Sathyan’s latest directorial venture, Sarvam Maya, a phone conversation between the legendary Mammootty and Akhil’s father, acclaimed filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad, is now going viral on social media.

Akhil Sathyan revealed in an interview with Q Studio that Mammootty didn’t just offer a casual “It was good” remark about the film. Instead, he praised it in his own poetic, highly expressive style. “After watching Sarvam Maya, Mammootty called my father and said, ‘I savoured his film without leaving even a single thorn behind’. Who else but Mammootty can evaluate a film in such a poetic and flavourful way?” Akhil said.

The phrase “without leaving a thorn behind” conveys that Mammootty appreciated every moment of the movie, finding nothing to critique, making it a truly wholesome experience.

Akhil also recalled similar praise from director Hariharan, who had earlier commented that “Akhil brought the lost charm of Malayalam cinema back home”. According to Akhil, Mammootty’s poetic evaluation resonated with this sentiment, showcasing his mastery over words, whether in casual conversation or formal dialogue.

Akhil added that Mammootty is not only a person with a great sense of humour but also someone who uses words with precision and impact.

Sarvam Maya, released during Christmas, stars Nivin Pauly in the lead role, with Aju Varghese, Riya Shibu, Janardhanan, Preethi Mukundan and Altaaf Salim in key roles.
