Kozhikode: Writer T D Ramakrishnan has said that he cannot imagine anyone other than Mammootty portraying his character Itticora. He also revealed that Mammootty was among the first readers of Francis Itticora. Ramakrishnan made this statement at the Kerala literary festival.

"Francis Itticora is a novel that is difficult to adapt into a film. If it were to be made into a movie, I cannot envision anyone other than Mammootty playing the lead role. Mammootty was one of the first readers of Itticora. You might have seen a video of him reading it.

Within months of its publication, he had already read it. The friendship that began during that time eventually led to Bhramayugam," said T D Ramakrishnan.

‘Francis Itticora’ is one of T D Ramakrishnan’s most renowned novels. It narrates the story of Francis Itticora, who believed that anything in the world could be traded. The novel unfolds through the attempts of another Itticora, a cannibal from a later generation, who tries to uncover the identity of the original Itticora, who lived in Kunnamkulam during the late 15th and early 16th centuries.

T D Ramakrishnan was also the dialogue writer for Bhramayugam, a horror film starring Mammootty in the lead role.
