After days of silence, Mammootty has reacted on the recent allegations of sexual abuse and assault in the Malayalam film industry. In a Facebook post, he addressed the ongoing issues and the role of organizations and leaders in responding to these concerns.
He expressed full support for the Justice Hema Committee, which was established by the government to investigate the film industry and provide recommendations for improvement. Mammootty called for all film industry associations to unite in implementing these recommendations and ensuring justice.
He also welcomed the police investigation and rejected the idea of a “power group” in cinema. He asserted that such influences should not have a place in the industry. He supported the committee's call for practical measures and legislative changes to address any legal challenges.
He noted that the film industry, being highly visible, attracts significant attention, and filmmakers must remain vigilant to prevent any misconduct.
