Directed by Praveen Narayanan, JSK – Janaki vs State of Kerala stars Anupama alongside veteran actor Suresh Gopi. The film is set for a theatrical release on June 27.

Actress Anupama Parameswaran has addressed her prolonged absence from the Malayalam film industry, shedding light on her decision to return with the upcoming courtroom drama JSK, Janaki vs State of Kerala.
During a recent promotional interview for the film, Anupama explained that the expectations in Malayalam cinema are particularly high, making actors vulnerable to criticism.
"We opt for films and scripts with characters that are suitable and challenging for us. Especially, the Malayalam industry (is something) heavily criticises (us). In such an industry, I am someone who has faced so much criticism in the past. So, when I am doing a film (today), I should expect a response from people that 'she is ok and doing something'," she said.
Reflecting on the pressure of performing, she added: "You get conscious when you are acting in front of your father and mother. Such is the case when we are performing in front of our audience. So, I wanted to do a good subject."
Anupama revealed that she first heard the story of JSK back in 2020 and immediately agreed to be part of it. "It was the first film I accepted after lockdown. It took so many years to hit theatres. Next, I have one film ready for release and also three that I have signed. Now, I am getting good scripts. That's why I am working in the Malayalam industry."
Directed by Praveen Narayanan, JSK – Janaki vs State of Kerala stars Anupama alongside veteran actor Suresh Gopi. The film is set for a theatrical release on June 27.
Produced by J. Phaneendra Kumar under Cosmos Entertainment in association with Karthik Creations, JSK marks a significant moment for Anupama, who returns to Malayalam cinema in a strong, central role after years of working predominantly in Tamil and Telugu films. The film cleared the censor process with a U/A 13+ rating.
