Kochi: Popular film actor and television anchor Subi Suresh passed away on Wednesday. She was undergoing treatment for liver-related ailments at a private hospital in Kochi.

She was 42.

Subi Suresh has made quite a mark as a comedian in television programmes and on-stage live events. She also excelled as an actor in the Malayalam film industry.

She started her career through Cochin Kalabhavan.

Her TV debut was by hosting the famous Malayalam comedy show 'Cinemala' on Asianet. She became a well-known face among Malayalis after anchoring a show for kids called 'Kuttipattalam' on Surya TV.

Subi's first film was 'Kanaka Simhasanam', directed by Rajasenan, in 2006. In the later years, she featured in several movies like Happy Husbands, Elsamma Enna Aankutty among others.

Born in Tripunithura in Ernakulam, she was active in school and college events and competitions.

Subi is survived by her parents and brother.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed his condolences over the untimely demise of the actress. In his statement, the CM remarked that Subi was a promising artist.
