I felt emotionally close to him… memories I’ll cherish forever: Malavika on working with Mohanlal

Actor Malavika Mohanan opened up about her experience working with Mohanlal in the recently released family entertainer Hridayapoorvam, calling it an unforgettable collaboration.

In a Q&A session with fans on X (formerly Twitter), Malavika shared a heartfelt note along with a behind-the-scenes picture from the sets. “This was the last day of shooting for #Hridayapoorvam, and every time I look at this picture I feel like it perfectly encapsulates what I feel about him. Apart from being super sweet & incredibly funny on sets, through the course of those months, I also felt so emotionally close to him because of how comfortable he made me, because of the character chemistry we had & how supportive he was through the entire process. It’s memories I’ll cherish forever... I can only hope I get to work with him again,” she wrote.

When asked why she chose to be part of Hridayapoorvam, Malavika said: “Firstly have always wanted to share the screen with the Mr Mohanlal sir & secondly I’ve grown up being a fan of Sathyan Anthikad Sir’s films and especially how he writes such beautiful roles for his female characters I love that my character ‘Haritha’ in the film is so well etched out and how there was so much scope to perform and bring the character to life! So felt like the right film to do in Malayalam after a while.”

Responding to another fan query, Malavika also spoke about her language skills. “Ok, let’s see..Hindi, English, Malayalam, Marathi, and now, since I’ve started acting in the industry, Tamil, though I’m yet to speak it fluently. And learning Telugu now courtesy #rajasaab I aspire to speak all the South Indian languages fluently a few more films down the line as I’m jumping from one industry to the other,” she said.

Hridayapoorvam, which released on August 28 as an Onam special, reunites Mohanlal with veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad. The film also stars Malavika Mohanan, Sangeeth Prathap, and Sangeetha in lead roles, alongside Siddique, Lalu Alex, Nishan, Janardanan, and Baburaj. The story is penned by Akhil Sathyan, with screenplay and dialogues by Sonu TP. Anu Moothedath has handled cinematography, while music is composed by Justin Prabhakaran.
