A luxury yacht was named after actor Asif Ali in tribute and support. The yacht was renamed by Dubai Marina's water tourism company D3. This is a tribute to Asif Ali's handling of the controversy involving music director Ramesh Narayan.
The boat has been named Asif Ali. Asif Ali's name will also be given in the boat's registration license. Shafeeq M Ali, Chief Executive Officer of D3, stated that Asif Ali, who handled the matter with maturity, is a role model for all.
As the entrepreneurs are natives of Pathanamthitta, the company has been named D3 by including the number 3 which is the vehicle registration of the district.
The controversy sparked when Asif Ali was invited to present an award to Ramesh Narayan at the trailer launch of "Manorathangal”, a film based on MT Vasudevan Nair's series of nine stories. Narayan did not accept the award from Asif Ali and instead asked director Jayaraj to come over. Narayan took the award from Asif Ali's hand and handed it over to Jayaraj, asking him to present the award back to him.
Social media users claim that Narayan did this to avoid interacting with Asif Ali after receiving the award. The incident, captured on video, quickly went viral on social media, sparking outrage among fans who demanded Narayan to apologize.
