“I urge Listin Stephen not to commit the grave sin of sacrificing the Malayalam film industry to the distorted financial interests of a moneylender from Tamil Nadu,” Sandra had lashed out at the film producer a few week ago.

Kochi: Malayalam film producer Listin Stephen has filed a defamation complaint against fellow producer Sandra Thomas, alleging that she made defamatory remarks about him on social media. The complaint has been lodged at the Ernakulam Magistrate Court, with Listin seeking ₹2 crore as compensation for damages to his reputation.
The issue stems from a recent social media post by Sandra Thomas, which appeared to be a response to Listin’s public criticism of a prominent Malayalam actor—though he did not name the individual. In her post, Sandra accused Listin of attempting to jeopardise the Malayalam film industry by aligning it with the unethical financial interests of a loan shark based in Tamil Nadu.
Sandra’s statement read:
“I urge Listin Stephen not to commit the grave sin of sacrificing the Malayalam film industry to the distorted financial interests of a moneylender from Tamil Nadu.”
She further alleged that Listin’s comments had cast a shadow of doubt over all male actors in the Malayalam industry and that such statements were both inappropriate and in violation of organisational ethics.
Listin has taken legal action, citing reputational damage caused by Sandra’s remarks, and demanded financial compensation as part of his plea.
