Actor Samantha, with her resilient and never-give-up attitude on both the professional and personal fronts, has become a force to reckon with in Indian cinema. Her personal life took a tumultuous turn following her highly publicised divorce from Telugu superstar Naga Chaitanya, who recently married actor Sobhita Dhulipala.
Amid these challenges, Samantha was diagnosed with myositis in 2022. Unfortunately, her subsequent releases, Shaakuntalam and Kushi, failed to create an impact at the box office and received harsh criticism. She had pinned her hopes on Citadel: Honey Bunny, directed by Raj & DK, where she starred alongside Varun Dhawan. While the Indian adaptation of the international action series garnered attention, it was largely deemed underwhelming and fell short of expectations.

Fewer films: Samantha's thoughtful approach
Samantha revealed that she has become more discerning about her choice of projects. Speaking candidly, she shared, “It’s easy to take on multiple films, but at this stage of my life, every project must feel like it could be my last. It should have a profound impact. If I’m not entirely convinced by a script, I simply can’t commit to it.”
Working with Raj & DK: A transformative experience
Reflecting on her collaborations with directors Raj & DK, Samantha expressed how they have raised the bar for her career. “In The Family Man Season 2, I explored a completely new dimension of my acting. With Citadel: Honey Bunny and Rakht Brahmand, I’ve been pushed to new creative heights. Raj & DK have spoiled me by offering opportunities that constantly challenge me as an actor. If I don’t feel that sense of purpose and fulfillment every day on set, I’d rather not be there,” she said.
A commitment to excellence
Samantha emphasised her determination to make thoughtful and meaningful choices, both for herself and her audience. “I don’t want to let myself or anyone else down with the decisions I make. Every role should reflect my best efforts and intentions.”
