Tamil filmmaker Shankar has announced his next directorial project, following the underwhelming box office performance of his recent film Game Changer, starring Ram Charan. The film, which received largely negative reviews, was also a major financial failure, sparking widespread discussion within the industry and among fans.

Amidst the ongoing discourse surrounding Game Changer, Shankar has revealed that his upcoming film will be based on the best-selling Tamil novel Veera Yuga Nayakan Velpari, which has sold millions of copies. The announcement was made during a public event dedicated to the novel, where the director appeared as a special guest.

“Earlier, Enthiran was my dream project. Now, it is Velpari,” Shankar said. “Whenever one makes a big-budget film, people often say it should be something as grand as Chandralekha. But Velpari will go beyond even that perception.”

He further added, “When Velpari is released, I truly believe it will be the biggest film made up to that point. It will be a world-class cinematic experience—on par with Game of Thrones or Avatar.”

Shankar’s statement has sparked excitement among fans and the film industry, with many eagerly awaiting further details on what is expected to be a landmark production in Indian cinema.
