Bollywood’s next psychological horror thriller isn’t just playing mind games—it’s doing it from the haunted halls of Himachal’s majestic Chail Palace

Mumbai: Move over, haunted mansions and clichéd cemeteries—Bollywood’s latest psychological thriller, ‘Behind the Mirror’, is filming where ghosts wear crowns and chandeliers whisper secrets: the historic Chail Palace in Himachal Pradesh.
Currently under production, this AB Bansal flick, directed by Prem Thakur, ditches jump scares for mind games, promising to mess with your head in all the right ways. Think less blood, more brain—served against the eerie calm of deodar forests and vintage royal corridors.
Set for an April 2026 theatrical release, ‘Behind the Mirror’ stars Swati Semwal, Rajveer Singh, Pooja Pandey, Aashit Chatterjee, and Viney Sharma—ready to unravel twisted psyches in beautifully haunted settings.
Backed by producer Abhey Bansal and co-producer Shyna Sunsara, the 20-day shoot at Chail Palace is being handled with royal precision by line producer Vinay (Cherry Films) and project head Kumar Vijay Sippy. Key behind-the-scenes heroes include accountants Charan Singh and Narayan Singh, and production controller Anshika Shivhare.
Even the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) is backing the spook. Dr Rajeev Kumar, HPTDC Managing Director, visited the set to cheer on the team and hinted that this shoot could kick off a new era for film tourism in the state. Haunted palaces and alpine forests do make great cinematic gold—and money for the local economy too.
With ‘Behind the Mirror’, Himachal isn’t just a backdrop—it’s the film’s most mysterious character. As the crew dives deep into storytelling, the Chail Palace whispers: “Lights, camera... possession?”
