Kochi: The Kerala High Court has extended until October 28 an interim order staying further proceedings in a case registered by Ernakulam Central Police against actor Shwetha Menon.

Justice VG Arun is hearing a petition filed by Shwetha seeking to quash the case. Police registered the case following a directive from the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, based on a complaint alleging that she appeared nude in certain films and advertisements.

The case was filed under provisions of the Prohibition of Obscenity Act and the Information Technology Act, based on a complaint by Martin Menachery. The First Information Report claims the actress performed in films and advertisements containing nudity for financial gain, and that such content was circulated on social media and adult websites.

The complaint cites her roles in 'Rathinirvedam', 'Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha' and 'Kalimannu', as well as her appearance in a condom advertisement, as examples of allegedly obscene content.
