The release date of director Paul George’s upcoming Malayalam pan-India action thriller ‘Kattalan’, starring Antony Varghese (Pepe), has sparked fresh buzz in the film industry, with strong rumours suggesting a May 28 theatrical release. However, the makers have still not issued any official confirmation, keeping the film’s release timeline shrouded in suspense.

Speculation intensified after an assistant director shared a poster on Instagram mentioning May 28 as the release date. Actor Anson Paul also reposted the same image, further fuelling expectations among fans that the action-packed film may indeed arrive on the said date.

Despite the growing chatter, the production team has maintained silence, and the previously announced release date of May 14 has already passed without a final update.

Produced by Shareef Muhammed under Cubes Entertainments, known for the blockbuster Marco, Kattalan is being positioned as a high-octane action thriller designed for a pan-India audience.

The film stars Rajisha Vijayan opposite Antony Varghese, along with a strong supporting cast including Telugu actor Sunil, Kabir Duhan Singh, and veteran Malayalam actors Jagadeesh and Siddique.

Rapper Baby Jean and rising talent Shon Joy are also part of the ensemble, adding fresh energy to the cast.

The film has also generated curiosity due to its technical team. The music department saw a notable shift when acclaimed composer Ravi Basrur came on board, replacing earlier announced composer Ajaneesh Loknath. The film’s story has been jointly written by Paul George, Joby Varghese, and Jero Jacob.

Beyond its star cast, Kattalan has attracted attention for its scale, stunt sequences, and production design. The team previously paid tribute to stunt performers after sharing behind-the-scenes footage of a dramatic vehicle stunt, highlighting the risks involved in filming high-intensity action scenes.

The film features cinematography by Renadive, editing by Shameer Muhammed, costume design by Dhanya Balakrishnan, and action choreography by Sharief.
