Tamil actor Karthi has sustained a leg injury while filming the high-octane action sequences for his upcoming film Sardar 2. The incident occurred during a crucial shoot in Mysuru, leaving the actor in need of immediate medical attention.

Following the injury, Karthi was promptly rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors evaluated his condition. According to reports, Karthi has been advised to rest for a week to ensure proper recovery. In light of this, the production team has decided to halt the shoot temporarily and return to Chennai. The film’s shooting will resume once Karthi is fully recovered and medically cleared to continue.

As of now, the actor has not provided a health update.

The team of Sardar 2 had recently completed shooting the film's climax at a grand set in Chennai. The current schedule involved Karthi and co-star SJ Suryah performing a high-energy action sequence, choreographed by stunt coordinator Chethan Ramshi D'Souza from Aavesham. 

Directed by PS Mithran, Sardar 2 features Karthi in dual roles, with the plot reportedly spanning two different time periods. The sequel is highly anticipated, with Karthi and Rajisha Vijayan reprising their roles from the original film. New cast additions include SJ Suryah, Malavika Mohanan, and Ashika Ranganath in major roles. With nearly 80 percent of the film already shot, the team hopes to resume production soon, pending Karthi’s recovery and approval from the producers.

This unfortunate incident follows the tragic death of stuntman Ezhumalai, who passed away in July 2024 after sustaining fatal injuries during the filming of an action sequence for Sardar 2. The shoot was temporarily halted after the accident.

The sequel to Sardar, a spy thriller directed by PS Mithran, has already generated considerable buzz after the original movie's success in 2022. The official release date of Sardar 2 has yet to be announced.
