Kalyani Priyadarshan is on a roll as Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra nearly ended its spectacular theatrical run and is now gearing up for an OTT release, smashing multiple records and amassing over Rs 300 crores at the global box office to become the highest-grossing Malayalam film ever.

In an industry dominated by the likes of Mohanlal, Mammootty, and Prithviraj, having a female-led film at the top is quite riveting and a remarkable achievement for Kalyani at an early stage of her career—she is true superstar material.

Latest collaboration

According to industry sources, the talented young actor has been roped in to play a pivotal role in an upcoming film directed by seasoned filmmaker Venkat Prabhu. What adds to the excitement is that Sivakarthikeyan will also feature in the film!

If the project materialises, it will mark Kalyani’s second collaboration with Venkat Prabhu and Sivakarthikeyan. She had earlier featured in Venkat’s time-loop film Maanaadu (2021), pairing alongside Simbu.

According to the director, Sivakarthikeyan, a top-billed actor and prominent star in Kollywood, is happy with the script, and the film is poised to portray him in a never-seen-before avatar. Revered composer Yuvan Shankar Raja is reportedly lending music to the film, although official confirmation is awaited.

Meanwhile, Sivakarthikeyan’s last theatrical outing, Murugadoss’s Madharaasi, received mixed responses, while his upcoming film with Sudha Kongara, Parasakthi, a political period drama, is in the pipeline. The film also features Ravi Mohan as the antagonist, and Sreeleela will make her Tamil debut.

For those who remember, Sivakarthikeyan made a much-discussed cameo in Venkat Prabhu’s earlier film GOAT starring Vijay. In the climax scene, Vijay hands over a gun to Sivakarthikeyan—a moment fans celebrated as a “passing the buck” act, especially since Vijay is stepping out of cinema to pursue political ambitions.

Fans of Kalyani Priyadarshan and Sivakarthikeyan are eagerly awaiting further updates regarding the proposed film. (With inputs from Agencies)
