'Kalamkaval', directed by Jithin K Jose and starring Mammootty and Vinayakan in the lead roles, will hit theatres on December 5. The film has generated high anticipation as Mammootty appears in a villainous role opposite Vinayakan, who plays the hero.

A key highlight drawing attention ahead of the release is the participation of Mammootty’s grandson Adyan Sayeed, who has sung a track for the film. Adyan, the son of Mammootty’s daughter Surumi, performs the song 'Red Back", written and composed by director Jithin K Jose.

This marks Adyan’s second playback performance in a Mammootty film. He earlier made his singing debut with the English song "Don’t Go" in 'Rorschach', directed by Nizam Basheer and headlined by Mammootty. The lyrics for that track were written by Mithun Mukundan.

Adyan is the son of Surumi and renowned cardiothoracic surgeon Dr Mohammed Rehan Sayeed.

Another notable highlight of 'Kalamkaval' is its unusually large female cast, 22 heroines in total, the first time such a number has been featured in a Malayalam film. The cast includes Rajisha Vijayan, Sruthi Ramachandran, Gayathri Arun, Megha Thomas, Malavika Menon, Abhi Suhana, Nisa, Triveda, Smitha, Sindhu Varma, Anupama, Vaishnavi Sai Kumar, Mohanapriya, Sidhi Fathima, Kabani, Seema, Riya, Amrutha, Mullai Arasi, Catherine Maria, Binsi and Dhanya Ananya.

The film is being distributed in Kerala by Wayfarer Films. 'Kalamkaval', scripted by Jishnu Sreekumar and Jithin K. Jose, is the seventh production under the Mammootty Kampany banner.
